Akhil Bhartiya Apang Kalyankari Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha (ABAKBS), a Nagpur-based NGO established in 1997, has been a catalyst of this change. Through education, rehabilitation, and emotional support, ABAKBS gives differently-abled children the tools to live with dignity, confidence, and independence.

Creating a Safe and Supportive Environment

ABAKBS provides more than schooling – it offers a home filled with care. The organization accommodates around 50 children, ensuring their safety, comfort, and growth. Each day begins with prayer and structured activities designed to improve focus, discipline, and communication. Students receive three nutritious meals daily, along with personal care and therapy sessions tailored to their needs.

Most children come from underprivileged families where awareness about disabilities is low. ABAKBS bridges this gap by regularly conducting community surveys, parent counseling, and awareness drives, ensuring that no child is left behind due to social stigma or neglect.

Empowerment Through Education and Skills

Education at ABAKBS focuses on practical learning. Students are trained in screen printing, stitching, data entry, and creative crafts, giving them a sense of purpose and achievement. The organization believes that every skill learned adds value to a child’s life – not only as a livelihood opportunity but also as a step toward self-respect and inclusion.
